Felt, fibreglass (GRP) or rubber (EPDM) flat roofing solutions - We've got you covered!
RubberCover EPDM membranes are available in large, seamless sheets up to 6.10 m in width. Most small residential roofs can therefore be covered with one single sheet without any field seaming.
RubberCover EPDM membranes require no flame as the membrane is always fully adhered to the substrate using a cold applied adhesive. This makes the EPDM roofing installation process easy, as well as safe.
Once installed, Firestone RubberCover EPDM membranes require no or only little maintenance. This, combined with the membrane's inherent durability and competitive installed cost, results in a very low lifecycle cost.
The RubberCover EPDM membrane is an inert material with limited environmental impact both during manufacture and installation and high durability compared to other roofing membranes.
Flat Roofs
What is a 'Flat Roof'?
It may sound like a stupid question, but a flat roof is typically not a flat roof.
A flat roof is a roof which is, contrary to it's name, almost never level, but which will appear level in contrast to the many types of sloped roofs.
The slope of a roof is properly known as its pitch, and flat roofs will typically have up to approximately 10° of pitch.
Construction Methods
There are a range of different construction methods for flat roofs in use throughout the UK today.
These include, but are not limited to: 3-ply 'torch-on' felt, fibreglass (GRP, or glass reinforced plastic) and rubber e.g. Firestone™ EPDM (Ethylene propylene diene monomer - now you can see why we generally refer to this as simply 'rubber' or EPDM!).
Which Type to Choose?
When it comes down to which type of flat roof solution to choose, there's no 'one size fits all' answer.
There are pros and cons to each method of construction and the price associated with it, and that's where the the benefit of an honest appraisal - one that suits your needs, in respect of both longevity and price - comes in.
When you request a quotation from RJ Hood Roofing, we'll discuss your requirements and will be happy to both advise and to provide a quotation for various flat roof construction types, should you require.
Slate tiles have been used worldwide for thousands of years and are recognised as one of the finest roofing materials available.
