3-Ply Torch-On Felt Roofing

Generally seen as the more economical solution to flat roofing, 3-ply 'torch-on' felt provides a lower cost flat roofing solution that will last for up to 20 years.

In the short term felt roofing is unarguably cheaper than other alternatives available - such as fibreglass (glass reinforced plastic, or simply GRP) and rubber foofing. In the long-term however, it may not always be the best solution.

We will be happy to sit down and talk you through your flat roofing options. We will explain the benefits of each option available, along with both the short-term and long-term cost implications.

We will always provide you with an honest appraisal and will never try to 'upsell' to a more expensive option.

Felt, fibreglass (GRP) or rubber (EPDM) flat roofing solutions - We've got you covered!

Flat Roofs

What is a 'Flat Roof'?

It may sound like a stupid question, but a flat roof is typically not a flat roof.

A flat roof is a roof which is, contrary to it's name, almost never level, but which will appear level in contrast to the many types of sloped roofs.

The slope of a roof is properly known as its pitch, and flat roofs will typically have up to approximately 10° of pitch.

Construction Methods

There are a range of different construction methods for flat roofs in use throughout the UK today.

These include, but are not limited to: fibreglass (GRP, or glass reinforced plastic) and rubber e.g. Firestone™ EPDM (Ethylene propylene diene monomer - now you can see why we generally refer to this as simply 'rubber' or EPDM!).

Which Type to Choose?

When it comes down to which type of flat roof solution to choose, there's no 'one size fits all' answer.

There are pros and cons to each method of construction and the price associated with it, and that's where the the benefit of an honest appraisal - one that suits your needs, in respect of both longevity and price - comes in.

When you request a quotation from RJ Hood Roofing, we'll discuss your requirements and will be happy to both advise and to provide a quotation for various flat roof construction types, should you require.
